Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Outpatient Clinic

The Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology outpatient clinic is based in the Hospital das Clínicas of UFMG. The appointments are always held on Fridays. The outpatient clinic was created in 2003 by Professor Rogério Gomes Beato(MD-PhD), who recently arrived from France after his master’s degree at Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital. In 2006 and 2010, respectively, professors Paulo Caramelli (MD-PhD) and Leonardo Cruz de Souza (MD-PhD) joined the team. Over the last 20 years, the outpatient clinic has expanded, and currently has two additional neurologists and a psychiatrist, in addition to Fellows and Neurology residents. We also count on a multidisciplinary team (speech therapists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists) specialized in treating neurological conditions, many of whom are volunteers at the institution. Group meetings to support family caregivers are also available. Around 800 patients are served through the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) every year. Patients are generally referred by primary attention, and all procedures/appointments are uncharged
